Peter Sloterdijk

Philosopher, cultural theorist, and author. Peter Sloterdijk studied philosophy, German studies and history in Munich and was awarded a doctorate with a study on philosophy and history of autobiographical literature in the Weimar Republic. Since 1980 he has been a freelance writer and published works on time diagnostics, cultural and religious philosophy, art theory and psychology. He is a professor for philosophy and media theory at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design. Between 1993 and 2008, he was the head of the institute for cultural philosophy at the Academy of fine arts Vienna; between 2001 and 2015, he was principal of the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design; and between 2002 and 2012, together with Rüdiger Safranski, he ran the programme ‘Das Philosophische Quartett’ on the TV programme ZDF. He was a guest professor at the Bard College, New York, at the Collège International de Philosophie, Paris, and at the Eidgenössischen Technischen Hochschule, Zurich. In 2020 his latest book ‘Den Himmel zum Sprechen bringen: Elemente der Theopoesie’ was published.
